Sanwolu Should Establish Additional Public Schools In Ibeju-Lekki - Nut Chairman

The Nigerian Union of Teachers Ibeju-Lekki Local Government branch has stressed the need for the Lagos State Government to establish additional public schools in the Council Area considering the growing numbers of student in the area.
In an interview with NUT Chairman, Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Comrade Akorede Sudik, commended Governor Sanwolu for the expansion of Epe-Ajah expressway, adding that the Governor should move a step further by constructing additional public schools in the Local Government. Excerpts:
Q: Talking about education in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, where are we and where are we supposed to be?

A: Education does not have a distinction it is a continues process that is being upscale year in year out, our forefathers started from someone and we have being able to continue where they stopped further ensure pupils in public schools have access to qualitative education across board.
NUT in Ibeju-Lekki has agitated for improved welfarism for Teachers, because when Teachers are better motivated they will be able to give the best to pupils across board.

We must applaud the Council Chairman, Hon. Sesan Olowa in the area of education because he had improved the quality of education in the Local Government by providing additional blocks of classrooms, renovating existing ones among other educational materials.
Like Oliver Twist, we will continue to ask for more and encourage him not to relent on his efforts, more importantly in the area of education like I said earlier he made innovative changes during his first term in office and we pray he will sustain the tempo for a second term in office by providing additional classrooms for pupils.
Equally we as a union, we are prepared to synergies with him towards ensuring that the quality of education is improved upon.

Q: What are your recommendations to the State Government as regards improve education in the state?
A: We must appreciate the current administration in the state in the area of education looking at the newly constructed Elemoro Junior School in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, this is a right step in the right direction and we expect more of such project so as to take care of the increased population in our schools.
One other area that requires government attention is transportation scheme for pupils as most of our student find it challenging with the cost of transportation and to the Federal Government they need to reconsider the age bracket for student admission to age 16 as this will help pupils gain admission conveniently.

Q: What is your message to Honourable Olowa has he emerged for a second term in office?
A: We congratulate him for his victory at the polls because during his first tenure in office, he lived up to the expectations of the people and we pray for him to do more and further consolidate on his legacies.
